GameStop has sent out another message to its employees today regarding Deus Ex Human Revolution, the first being instructions to remove OnLine coupons from the games (To Emphasize; they were told to open brand new, sealed copies and remove a coupon that was to be sold with the game). The latest message instructs employees to remove all PC Versions of the game from the shelves and place them in the backroom where they will eventually be returned to the publisher with the exception of reserved copies which will still be sold. Not only has it pulled the game from shelves, but the PC Version is now gone from GameStop’s website, however, the console versions are still on shelves and the website. I believe this removal may have been done by Square Enix after hearing of GameStop’s removal of the OnLine coupons. I’m in the middle of contacting Square Enix in hopes of comments on the matter.
This matter will definitely not look good on GameStop’s public relations, although, at this point, readers are wondering about the legality of this. While this was not something good to do to gamers, it possible that GameStop will face no legal issues as the Deus Ex packaging apparently makes no mention of the OnLive promotion.
