Free OnLive Micro Console on Assassin’s Creed Revelations Pre-Orders

While In the Cloud gaming might not be found to be a great experience by everyone, this deal might be one to look at if you’re one of those people who’ve taken a liking to OnLive’s “In the Cloud Gaming” service. While I do prefer to own my games on physical media, I found OnLive to be a good way to try out games before buying the PlayStation or XBox version of a game.

OnLive’s most recent offer involves getting a free console with a pre-order purchase of a game. Gamers who pre-order Assassin’s Creed Revelations before or by November 19th on the OnLive service will receive a coupon code for a free Microconsole system so you can enjoy OnLive on your television like any other console. Sounds like a good deal. However, my advice about this, if you’ve never used OnLive, I’d recommend you download the computer client and try out a trial of a game and see how you like it. That way, you can take a test run for free. Depending on your internet connection or how far you are from their data centers, you might experience lag and it might not be worthwhile buying games on the service. If it runs smooth for you and you like it, then this is a great deal for you.

Portal is Free On Steam Until September 20

Heads up for those of you who have happened to have never played Portal; Valve has Portal available for free for a limited time. Users can download Portal for free on Steam until September 20th. Once you install Portal before the 20th, the full game is yours and will remain that way.

What’s the reason for giving it away temporarily? Valve is doing this to help promote their “Learn with Portal” program, an educational project aimed at teaching school-aged children about science. What better way to do this than allow them to play a Science powered game. Once again; if you’ve never bought Portal, now’s a good time to grab a freebie and maybe even pick up Portal 2 while your at it. Come on, do it for Science.
