The Last Story has been hyped for years, started to surface back in 2009 as a collaborative work between Mistwalker and AQ Interactive, sponsored by Nintendo as a collaboration. It released to Japan and Europe with positive acclaim however, Nintendo apparently did not think it was profitable enough to offset the localization cost to bring to North America. Why would it be a great idea to localize a game made by the creator of the Final Fantasy series Hironobu Sakaguchi with a score done by Nobou Uematsu, especially when a huge fanbase known as Operation Rainfall boldly tells you straight up in massive amounts of mail-in and call-in campaigns? There’s just absolutely no sense in supplying a game to North America with such a legendary background of developers and a powerfully vocal fanbase behind it, smart move Nintendo! XSeed believes the opposite and decided to publish Nintendo’s newest RPG IP. This is the Wii’s last bit of hype and lives up being the swan song for the Wii in North America as a story well told on top of a great design of a Role-Playing Game. Read More!
After next week, GameStop will no longer be accepting Nintendo’s last generation console items. Come April 2nd, 2012, the company will terminate their trade-in program for Gamecube consoles, accessories and games. If there’s any Gamecube merchandise you have that you want to trade in, you might want to find time during this next week to do so. With the Wii U launch on the horizon, it would make sense that GameStop would want to end its program support for the Gamecube.
A new month being kicked off with a new line of Nintendo Download titles. While the lineups aren’t the strongest they’ve been, we’ve got a bit of 3DS Virtual Consoles and Demos in both regions.
A stronger than usual week for Nintendo Download. Each region brings a number of titles to the table including Virtual Consoles, 3DS Demos and more. The Hulu Plus application is now available on Wii for North American users and comes with a two-week free trial for non-subscribers. Interestingly enough, it seems the first of Ambassador-only NES games are becoming available to everyone.
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced to investors today during a briefing that a new “side-scrolling action Super Mario” will be heading to the Nintendo 3DS. Iwata announced that the New(er) Super Mario Bros. 2D title will be making its appearance in the company’s next fiscal year. That means the new title will make arrive on the system sometime after March 2012. I personally expect this title to be out on the later half of 2012 rather shortly after March.
We already know that Nintendo had a broad release window of “2012″ for the Wii U but now it more hints have narrowed it down. According to several sources, including Reuters, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced in an Investors’ meeting recently that the Wii U will be launching worldwide in time for the Christmas shopping season. Nintendo usually publishes translations of its investor meetings so we can expect official details soon.
A new line of Nintendo Download titles to close off January. North America has a strong mix of everything, demoes, 3DSWare and so on. While Europe does have something for everyone, the list isn’t as big. Regardless, don’t let that stop you from looking around.
A brand new week of Nintendo Download goodies and looks like this week is an arguably good one. There are finally
The first Nintendo Download of a new year is here. It kicks off with an interesting mix. North America has a 3DSWare title then a bit of DSiWare and WiiWare. European users get a 3DS Virtual Console, one DSiWare and one WiiWare and a special offer. Once again, both regions are missing a Wii Virtual Console.
The final Nintendo Download of 2011 is here. Not as big as last week’s but some variety on the plate (minus Wii VCs once more).
